Introducing KACS
Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) strengthens the community – one family at a time – by providing healthy food, crisis services, housing solutions, and an educational path forward for local neighbors in need. They do not turn away anyone who needs food, nor charge for any services they provide; this is especially important today as rent, utilities, and food prices continue to rise. When families come to KACS for financial and nutritional support, they also learn about the educational support they offer to help them break the cycle of poverty. With Sun East Foundation’s support, KACS has helped over 6,000 seniors, adults, and children last year.
A home is a basic human right, and many low-income families cannot afford to live in Southern Chester County. In response to this need, the KACS New Housing Initiative is committed to creating more affordable housing by investing in small, residential properties. These properties will become permanent, sustainable, affordable rental options for low-wage-earning neighbors of all ages, ethnicities, and compositions. KACS has recently acquired their first property and looks forward to creating more affordable housing opportunities.
